Tooth Fairy coming to take a child's tooth from his pillow

How I Lost My First Wobbly Tooth

Do you remember your first wobbly tooth? The excitement of the tooth fairy (or not in our case!), the trepidation of what it would look like and that weird, unstoppable urge to keep fiddling with it to see how much you could wobble it? Here is our story…

This story is part of our Celebrating Milestones series.

My First Wobbly Tooth and how the Tooth Thief Fairy Stole It

Luc (Aged 7)

Day 1 -

I think it might be happening. Finally. I’ve been waiting for ages. Tomos says I’ll need to wait until I’m 8. 8 long years! But last time we went to the dentist she said she could feel it – the wobble! And now I can feel it too. My first wobbly tooth. And I’m only 7.

It’s one of the bottom ones and I can push it forward with my tongue. Forward and back. Forward and back. It’s really wobbly.

Mummy and Daddy said it might even come out today.

Day 2 -

It’s still wobbly – just in case you were wondering. And I think it might even be more wobbly than yesterday. I can get my fingers all round it now and go forward and back, side to side. Forward and back, side to side.

I got my jar ready yesterday so that when it comes out I can keep it safe. There has been some talk of some thieving fairy coming to take it away, but I want to keep it. I can put it in my jar and start my own tooth collection. Of all my own teeth.

Forward, back, side to side.

Mummy and Daddy say it might come out today. Well as long as they tell that tooth fairy to keep her mitts off.

Day 3 -

I wonder how big it’s going to be – maybe like a shark’s tooth. Did you know that sharks can lose teeth every single day and still grow them back? And the Great White Shark can have up to 300 teeth.

Or a dinosaur tooth – like a Megalodon. They had massive teeth and their bite was even stronger than the T-Rex. You’d think the tooth thief fairy would be more interested in their teeth.

Forward, back, side, side, side, side. Mummy and Daddy say they are sure it will come out today.

Day 4 – at bedtime.

Wobble, wobble, forward, back – Ouch! It’s really starting to hurt now. It hurts to move it with my fingers. It really hurts to wobble it with my tongue. It really hurts to eat. And I still have to brush my teeth.

I can’t believe it’s been another whole day and it’s still not come out. How long is this going to take? I really, really want to see my tooth. I want to put it in my jar.

Mummy and Daddy say they are totally sure it will come out tomorrow.

Day 5 -

Mummy! Daddy! My wobbly tooth’s gone!

And I can’t find it anywhere!
