Christmas Presents: Can You Keep it a Secret until Christmas Day?
Luc (aged 7)
I’ve got a secret.
I’ve had it for weeks and weeks and I’ve not told Tomos. It’s been really hard to not tell him. But this year I haven’t.
And now its Christmas Eve and I finally get to wrap it up and put it under the tree. My secret Christmas present for Tomos.
“Mum, are you ready?” I yell. All the wrapping happens in Mummy and Daddy’s bedroom. We get all the wrapping paper, and the sticky tape and the presents that you are allowed to see because they are not for you.
Then we yell down to the person who can’t come in that they can’t come in. And shut the door. Fully. So there is no way to peek around it. I know this because I have tried.
“Ready!” Mum comes in, her arms full and dumps everything on the bed.

“Tomos! Don’t come in.” I shout, pushing the door shut with a loud bang.
Mummy helps me to wrap the present so there are no holes in it. That way Tomos can’t take a sneaky look and guess what it is. He’s annoying like that.
All done. I pick it up and leap down the stairs.
“Tomos! I’ve got your Christmas present.” I yell as I kneel down in front of the Christmas tree.
“What is it?” Tomos is over in a flash, eagerly taking it from my hands and giving it a shake.
“It’s…”
