When do you like to wrap your Christmas presents? My kids like to leave theirs to the last possible moment and its become a bit of a Christmas Eve tradition. Here is our story…

Wrapping Christmas Presents Headquarters is Open for Business
Mummy (10 years parenting)
It’s Christmas Eve. And we are still wrapping Christmas presents. Well, the boys are because they like to do it as one of their last things on Christmas Eve. I am trying to avoid wrapping anything because we’ve still got the stockings to do and who likes to spend hours trying to wrap small, oddly shaped little things on the one night of the year that your kids will willingly go to bed early?
Anyway, back to the boys. They especially like to wrap their presents to each other. They take great delight in barring the other one from our Christmas present wrapping headquarters (aka my bedroom) and using as much paper and sticky tape as humanly possible to hide the gift inside and make it as difficult as possible to open.
For the last few Christmases it been a pretty pointless endeavour as they have already spilled the beans on what they have bought for the other. But this year, this year is different.
This year, they have actually managed to keep their Christmas gifts a secret. Well so far. They technically still have a few hours to go until Christmas Day.
But I’m still quite surprised they have held out this year. Not that it’s been easy. There have been several almost moments, especially in the last few days.
But they both seem determined to keep their secret.

Luc finishes wrapping his gift and leaps off the bed. “I’m going to put it under the tree!”
I wander down after him because I’ll do anything to escape Christmas wrapping present headquarters.
I enter the room just in time to hear their hushed conversation.
“What is it?”
“It’s lego.” Luc blurts out automatically before clamping his hands over his mouth. “Mum!” He wails.
So close. There is always next year.
