Why Kids Can't be Bothered to do Easy Everyday Chores at Home
Tomos (aged 11)
I can’t remember a time that I was chore free. It started with unloading the dishwasher. Well, not even the whole dishwasher, just the plates and bowls and putting them in the cupboard.
But then they started to add more little things in like putting your clothes in the right light or dark laundry basket, tidying up your bedroom at the end of the day and then somehow, one summer holiday it spiralled into a whole A4 page list of daily chores for me to do.
And I bet you can guess whose list is the longest. Mine. That’s right. Because I am the eldest so capable of doing so much more. Because being capable is every child’s dream?
“Tomos, have you finished your list?” Mum nags again. For like the tenth time.
“No. And I don’t want to do the list any more.” I yell back.
“Maybe we need to come up with a new system.” Mum murmurs gently.
Hmmm, now there is an interesting thought.
