Start to Build Better Spending Money Habits from an Early Age
Luc (8 years old)
Wow! The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling!
And they are filled with loads and loads and loads of toys. This is the best, the biggest, most amazing toy shop I have ever been to.
“Mum! Look at all the dinosaurs.” I grab her hand and drag her over to the nearest shelf. It’s filled with all the big ones – even bigger than the T-Rex that I have at home.
“They’ve got the Spinosaurus, the Mosasauras, the T-Rex and the big one with the weird head.”
“They are quite big.” Mum murmurs nervously. Mummy doesn’t really like big toys. She likes ones that fit into boxes or drawers.

Today I am practising spending my pocket money and it can be a big spend. Mummy said that as I have saved up enough money, that we could come to the big toy shop and choose something awesome.
And the dinosaurs are.
But wait – there is a shark-eating-car-track. An enormous shark chomping down as the cars go flying up and down and crashing.
I really really want the shark-eating-all-the-cars track. And the dinosaurs.
“Just one thing remember.” Mummy says for the millionth time.
“I know.”

But there’s more trucks, an army plane, two tennis rackets, a bike, more dinosaurs and some lego brick sets that look really fun.
I really don’t know what to pick. I just wish I could get everything.
“Have you chosen yet?” Mum wanders up the aisle slowly.
“Well, I have got 11 things so far.”
And considering there are like a zillion things in this shop, I think that’s pretty reasonable. Don’t you?
