I’m happy to say that our first trip to Legoland Windsor as a family was a success. With a range of rides to suit the whole family (and a husband willing to take on the spinning one), it was a day to remember. Here is our story…

Legoland Windsor: What's Next?
Tomos (Aged 10)
Wow! The log flume was amazing!
Daddy said the drop at the end would be small. But It. Was. Epic! The best ride ever. We got so wet. And Mummy is furious with Daddy. It’s funny when she’s cross with someone else. He looks a little sheepish to me, like maybe he knew the drop was bigger really.
We had to use the dryers because we were all wet to our pants. But I don’t think they’ve made that much difference. My pants are still wet. Warmer, sure. But wet.
I can’t wait to do the next ride though. Mummy looks like she’s ready to stop. But we’ve only just started!
What’s next?
Daddy says the queue for The Jolly Rocker doesn’t look too bad. “Come on then!” I say, starting to run. “Let’s go!”
“It’s this way,” Daddy laughs, pointing down a completely different path. And I sprint ahead. A big giant rocking pirate ship sounds amazing!
“Let’s get a quick picture with this giant Lego crocodile,” Mummy says. I think she might be stalling. But the crocodile is cool, to be fair. Okay, a quick photo and then I’m zooming again.
“I can see it!” I shout.
Mummy looks up at the ride. And keeps looking up to take it all in. “I think I might find a bench in the sun and dry out a bit!”
Hmmm… I think she’s just scared. Anyway, our group is down to three now. And twenty minutes later, we’re in our pirate seats with the safety bar coming down.
“You okay?” Daddy whispers to Luc, who’s gone strangely quiet. No time to chat though, because the boat’s moving! Up and down, higher and higher, faster and faster. My stomach starts doing funny flips… This. Is. Amazing!
The ride shudders to a stop and I race out of my seat. This is the best day ever! What’s next?
“I want to do the Spinning Spider ride,” I announce back at the bench. I spied it from the top of The Jolly Rocker.
Mummy is still soggy. Luc has sat down with his head on his chest. Looks like our group is down to two now. Just me and Daddy.
We leave Mummy and Luc outside the log flume ride, where you can press buttons and shoot water cannons at the people coming down the final slide. Luc’s pretty good at it. If he gets the timing just right, he’s shooting people right in the face. I can still hear him cackling as I start sprinting off to the Spinning Spider.
“Come on! This way!” I shout at Daddy. I know I’m going the right way this time.
Even better, there’s no queue! We get straight on, buckle up and hold on for dear life as the ride spins us round and round and round. Faster and faster….
Daddy has closed his eyes. He only opens them once the ride has completely stopped. “Just give me one second,” He mumbles while everyone else is getting off.
I’m raring to go. What’s next?
Daddy’s looking a little green and wobbly as we head back to find Mummy and Luc. Maybe spinning isn’t his thing. I know what will help!
“Let’s get ice-cream!” I suggest, helpfully. Daddy groans.
We lick our ice-creams and watch Luc shoot more log flume victims with his water cannon. He’s getting really good. Now he’s timed it so that the riders think they are safe and dry before he gets them full in the face. Brilliant. Evil, but brilliant.
This is the best day ever.
“Where to next?” I ask, bouncing up and down. But now Daddy is slumped on the bench too. I guess my group is down to one. Light-weights!
