Help Your Kids do Chores Around the Home with Our Household Hustle

Mummy (11 years parenting)

I’ve had to make a change. I am completely fed up of chasing the boys to ensure that they have done their assigned chores each and every day. To be honest, it would just be so much easier to do the chores myself rather than engage with all the moaning and sighing that comes with each and every reminder.

So I decided to bin the list of assigned chores and go for a completely different approach. I called it the household hustle and made it very simple for everyone to follow.

“Boys, I need to show you something.” I call the kids down. “This is our new chores system. The Household Hustle.”

I ignore Tomos as he rolls his eyes and sighs. 11 year olds are so much fun I tell myself through gritted teeth.

“There will be three hustle times throughout the day, usually after meals. And all you have to do is go around the house and ask yourself these questions. Does this need a tidy? Does this need a clean? And if the answer is yes – you get on with it. Simple!” I announce with a big smile on my face.

“Wait, so now I have to go around and actually find something to do and then do it. Isn’t that more work for us to do?” Tomos asks in horror.

Got it in one kiddo!
