How to Survive School Drop Off Separation Anxiety
Mummy (4 years parenting)
We are officially three weeks into the school term and to be honest, I thought we would be further along than this. Most of the other children are practically hurdling into school right now, almost jumping over each other in their determination to be in first. Goodbyes are swift and carefree as the other parents race off to get on with their day.
Meanwhile my mornings have been reduced to a three man wresting match. With one hand I am holding back a very large, very strong and very determined 2 year old whose only desire is to get through that school door.
While at the same time, I am trying to get the 4 year old through the school door whose only desire is to turn around and run straight back home. No amount of talking, reassuring, cajoling or bribery has worked so far.
“Mum,” Tomos grabs my hand and Luc, sensing weakness makes a break it for it. “Just let Luc go to school today. I’m sure my teacher wouldn’t mind.”
And for one tiny moment, I actually found myself considering it.
